Our Trainers

Victor Tan brings a remarkably interdisciplinary academic and professional profile to his current role as a PhD scholar in Artificial Intelligence at Murdoch University. He holds multiple advanced degrees from Nanyang Technological University, including a Master of Science in Information Systems (2004), a Master in Biomedical Engineering (2007), a Master of Arts in Contemporary China (2010), and a first degree in Mechanical and Production Engineering.

 

Complementing these are certifications as a Behavioral Consultant and in Technical Education Pedagogy. His early industry experience includes serving as an R&D Engineer at Hewlett Packard, where he contributed to the world’s fastest colour printer (Pro K550), earning a recognition award in 2006, and authored 25 disclosures on topics such as gear and motor design, steel surface improvement, and detection methods.

 

Over 27 years across private and government sectors, he has developed expertise in operational, project, safety, strategic, and facilities management, as well as data analytics. Concurrently, he has sustained a parallel career as an educator, delivering training for institutions like NTU, SUSS, IMDA, and multiple UK universities. This synthesis of engineering, biomedical science, information systems, contemporary China studies, and AI research—grounded in both industrial R&D and extensive teaching—positions him as a uniquely versatile technologist and academic.
